Farakka is a key legislative assembly constituency in West Bengal, located in the Murshidabad district. In the 2021 assembly elections, the seat was won by All India Trinamool Congress. Monirul Islam, from All India Trinamool Congress defeated Milan Ghosh of the Bharatiya Janata Party by a margin of 59945 votes.

Farakka Assembly constituency is part of the Maldaha Dakshin Lok Sabha constituency. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Indian National Congress candidate Isha Khan Chowdhary won the Maldaha Dakshin parliamentary seat by defeating Smt.
