Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, well known as Priyanka Gandhi is an affluent Indian politician. She is from the politically powerful Nehru-Gandhi family, a daughter of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and former Congress President Sonia Gandhi.
Not to forget, she is the sister of former Congress President Rahul Gandhi and granddaughter of the first woman Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi. Currently, she is a general secretary for Uttar Pradesh in the All India Congress Committee (AICC), the central decision-making unit of the Indian National Congress.
Initially, Priyanka Gandhi wasn't keen on active politics. She supported her mother Sonia and brother Rahul in their election campaigns at Raebareli and Amethi in Uttar Pradesh respectively. Her involvement grew during the 2004 general election when she held rallies across various constituencies.
In 2019, she officially joined politics as the Congress Party's general secretary for eastern Uttar Pradesh. Later in 2020, she took charge of the entire state. Presently, she is leading the Congress in the 2024 general election.
On a personal front, Priyanka Gandhi married Robert Vadra, who is a businessperson in New Delhi. He is well-connected but has been looked at closely because of possible issues with land deals involving DLF, a real estate company. They have two kids together.
Priyanka Gandhi follows Buddhist ideas and thanks a Buddhist teacher named S N Goenka for introducing her to Vipassana meditation. This kind of meditation is believed by some to help find inner peace.
