Tamil Nadu Assembly Election Results 2026
Tamil Nadu has moved into the results countdown after single-phase polling for all 234 Assembly constituencies was held on 23 April 2026.
The election developed into a three-cornered contest featuring the ruling DMK-led alliance, the AIADMK-led bloc, and Vijay’s TVK, whose debut added fresh energy to the campaign. Major talking points included welfare delivery, employment, prices, industrial growth, and leadership credibility. Reports noted strong voter participation across the state, with turnout crossing 85 percent in several updates after polling closed. Parties are now guarding strong rooms and reviewing booth-level trends ahead of the final verdict. Counting of votes and declaration of results are scheduled for 4 May 2026.
The mandate will decide whether the DMK alliance retains power or Tamil Nadu witnesses a new political alignment after one of its most-watched contests in recent years.

- Five different cities including Chennai, Trichy will be established as capitals for Tamil Nadu

AIADMK
- Free Fridges For rice ration card holders

- Measures to close liquor shops in a phased manner
- Senior Citizen monthly pension increases upto Rs.2,000
TVK
- A drug-free Tamil Nadu will be created.
- Education Guarantee Scheme: To ensure educational opportunities for the youth, Collateral-free loans of up to ₹20 lakhs will be provided following the completion of Class 12.
- A comprehensive recruitment schedule will be formulated to facilitate the provision of government jobs.
- In the event of delays in employment placement, a monthly stipend of ₹4,000 will be provided to graduates, and ₹2,000 to diploma holders.
- Collateral-free loans of up to ₹25 lakhs will be provided with the aim of fostering honest entrepreneurs.
DMK
- The breakfast scheme will be extended up to 8th grade.
- The Magalir Urimai Thogai will be increased to ₹2000.
- Farmers receiving free electricity will be provided with modern electric pump sets without meters.
- 10 lakh new houses will be built and provided in Tamil Nadu within 5 years.
- The annual income limit for medical insurance eligibility will be increased to ₹5 lakh.
CONGRESS
- Every family will receive ₹2000 per month, which will be deposited in the name of a woman in the household. This benefit will be given to all families who have a family ration card.
- Landless farmers will be given financial assistance of ₹6000 per year.
- Reservation for government school students will be increased to 10%.
- 40,000 vacancies in the police department will be filled.
- The two-language policy will be followed in Tamil Nadu.
