Bhupesh Baghel represents the Patan constituency of the Durg District in the Chhatisgarh Legislative Assembly. He started his political journey as a member of the Indian Youth Congress in 1985 and won his maiden election to the Legislative Assembly of Madhya Pradesh from Patan constituency in 1993. He was again re-elected as MLA from the same constituency in 1998. He was also appointed as the Minister of State for the Public Grievances Department and later promoted to the Cabinet Minister for Transport in the Madhya Pradesh State Government led by Digvijay Singh.
Later, when Chhattisgarh got statehood in 2000, Baghel was the first one to be appointed as the Minister of Revenue in the new state. He has also served as the Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the Chhattisgarh assembly. Before becoming the Chief Minister of the tribal state in 2018, he served as the President of the Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee and played a pivotal role in bringing back the Congress in power in the state after one and a half decades.
Bhupesh Baghel has a keen interest in social services. From his student life, he has been associated with a lot of political and social activities. He has been advocating social reforms in society. To avoid lavish marriage functions, he initiated a low-cost marriage campaign that promotes marriages with minimum expenditure. He has been organizing mass marriage ceremonies almost every year which earned him massive popularity and respect. CM Baghel was also conferred ‘Mahatma Phule Samta Award for his activism and efforts to bring equality to society.
Bhupesh Baghel is devoted to leading Chhattisgarh to prosperity. His work as the Chief Minister has been widely recognized as the state received several awards and accolades under his leadership. The recent one is the 'Cleanest State Award' presented by the President of India, Ramnath Kovind.

Bhupesh Baghel, is the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, today hit back at BJP for stopping Bharat Jodo Yatra.
He also said that during pandemic BJP conducted elections in West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Assam.
And now, they are making excuses just to stop Congress's Yatra. The CM also assured that if Corona occurs this time the party itself will take decision on time.
