Biography

Muthuvel Karunanidhi Stalin knowns as M.K. Stalin was born on 1st March 1953 as the third son to the prominent Dravidian leader and five-time chief minister of Tamilnadu, Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi and his second wife Dhayalu ammal in Chennai, Tamilnadu.

Following his father's footprint, MK Stalin debuted into active politics in 1973 as soon as he graduated from the college with a bachelor degree. He was inducted in the party and rose through the ranks in DMK. He was one among the young leaders to be jailed under MISA in 1976 for protesting against the emergency.

His legislative career started in 1989 as he was elected MLA from Thousand Lights constituency. 1996 he was elected as the Mayor of Chennai. In 2009 he was promoted to be the deputy CM while his father M Karunanidhi was the chief minister of the state. in 2017, Stalin was appointed the working president of the Dravid Munetra Kazhgam as his father and then DMK chief Karunanidhi was not keeping well. In 2018, he was elected president by the DMK general council.

MK Stalin, is the chief minister of Tamil Nadu, wrote a letter to Narendra Modi over employment opportunities in his native state.
The CM urged to Prime Minister to ensure that his state gets adequate chance in union government offices and central public sector.

Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M K Stalin on Saturday encouraged citizens to extend their hands in spreading forest cover and conserving nature for posterity.
As the state government launched the Green Tamil Nadu Mission, a flagship scheme of the state Tamil Nadu Green Climate Company at Arignar Anna Zoological Park, Vandalur.
Stalin also said that the scheme is mainly focused on enhancing Tamil Nadu's tree and forest cover to 33 per cent from 23.69 per cent in the forthcoming decade.

MK Stalin initiates to provide free breakfast scheme for govt students

Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M K Stalin has recently launched free breakfast scheme in Madurai for the government students from class one to five. The politician also said that delivering food with education is government's duty. Stalin further added that such initiative was taken by P. Theagaraya Chetty a century ago in 1922.
However, the scheme will be implemented in 1,545 schools that includes 417 in cities, 163 in towns and district centers, 728 in rural areas, and 237 in remote and hilly areas.

Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M K Stalin launched a scheme titled 'Pudhumai Penn' along with Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal.

The event was organized at Bharathi Womens College in Chennai on the occasion of Teachers Day.

However, the 'Pudhumai Penn' or 'Modern Woman' scheme is based on female students, who studied from Class 5 to 12 in government schools would be paid ?1,000 every month till their graduation or diploma degree. This scheme is initiated with the aim of Rs 698 crore in the 2022-23 budget and around 6,00,000 girls would be benefitted every single year.
