Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, born on December 2, 1977, in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, is the scion of a politically prominent family that has been ideologically and organizationally linked with DMK for decades. After graduating with a BBA degree, he took the first step in his political career when he joined the youth wing of the DMK. His attributes, such as leadership and social service, earned him recognition in no time.
He has been a legislator of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly representing the constituency of Thiruverumbur, elected for the first time in 2016 and then re-elected in 2021. Under the chief minister M.K. Stalin, the minister for school education post was conferred on him, where he innovated measures influencing the digitization of instruction, the erection of buildings, and the teacher training programs.
By 2025, Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi is still holding the portfolio of Minister for School Education and is considered instrumental in executing the DMK government’s policies that are aimed at not only raising the standard of education but also at extending its reach all over Tamil Nadu.
