K. N. Nehru (Born November 9, 1952) is the Tamil Nadu's senior politician of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. Since May 7, 2021, he has been serving as the Cabinet Minister for Municipal Administration, Urban and Water Supply in the government of Chief Minister M. K. Stalin.
Nehru was first elected to the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, representing the Tiruchirappalli West constituency. Over the course of 5 consecutive terms, with his latest term starting on May 19, 2016.
Nehru is with the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), and his political journey started in the early 1970s. Alongside his career in politics, he served as:
- Minister for Transport (2006–2011)
- Minister for Food, Public Distribution System, and Co-operation (1996–2001)
- Minister for Electricity, Dairy, Labor Welfare, and Press (1989–1991)
He was appointed as the Principal Secretary of DMK in August 2018 and stayed in that capacity until 2020.
Nehru has been attentive to his duties and has been an overseer of some major infrastructure and urban development projects. For example, in August 2025, he inaugurated the ₹69.20 crore biogas plant at the Vellalore dump yard in Coimbatore, a facility that can process 250 tonnes of biodegradable waste daily for environmental purposes.
Besides this, he has been energetic in tackling issues of the city of Chennai. For instance, as part of monsoon preparation, relaying 4,000 roads to stop water stagnation has been an effort.
Nehru is married and has a son named K. N. Arun Nehru, who is also involved in politics.
