S. Jagathrakshakan is a Lok Sabha MP of DMK party from the Arakkonam constituency of Tamil Nadu. He is a prominent Tamil businessman and politician. He won in the same constituency thrice since 1999 for DMK party. He started a party named Veera Vanniyar Peravai in 2004 and merged it with DMK in 2009. From November 2012 to March 2013, He was the minister of state for commerce and industry.
He started his active politics from the ADMK party. In his political career, Jagathrakshakan has been elected Tamil Nadu state assembly during the 1980 elections from Uthiramerur for the ADMK party. He won from the Chengalpattu constituency in the 1984 Indian general election for ADMK. He headed the ADMK parliamentary party from 1985–89.
