Siva V. Meyyanathan

Siva V. Meyyanathan was born on 29 September 1969 in Ariyalur district, Tamil Nadu. He entered public life through grassroots political activity and local party engagement, gradually building recognition within the Dravidian movement–oriented political culture of the region. His early years were marked by consistent involvement in constituency outreach and party programmes.

He became actively associated with the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and worked within the party’s organisational structure in central Tamil Nadu. Over time, he earned a reputation for discipline, organisational capability, and close engagement with local issues, which strengthened his position within the party hierarchy.

He was re-elected in 2021, retaining the Ariyalur seat and reinforcing his standing as a dependable legislator. His re-election coincided with the DMK’s return to power in the state, placing him among the party’s experienced representatives.

Following the formation of the DMK government in 2021, Siva V. Meyyanathan was inducted into the Tamil Nadu Council of Ministers as the Minister for Environment, Climate Change, and Forests. In this role, he assumed responsibility for environmental policy, forest conservation, climate-related initiatives, and ecological governance across the state.

As of 2026, Siva V. Meyyanathan continues to serve as MLA from Ariyalur and as a cabinet minister, combining legislative experience with executive responsibility in a key governance sector.
