Anumula Revanth Reddy serves as the second Chief Minister of Telangana State, playing an active role in its political landscape. Affiliated with the Indian National Congress, he emerged victorious in the 2023 assembly elections against K. Chandrashekar Rao.
Hailing from Mahboobnagar district, Reddy's journey into politics began early, marked by his involvement in student unions during his graduation at A.V. College, Osmania University. He furthered his political engagement by joining the Akhil Bhartiya Vidhyarthi Parishad.
Reddy entered mainstream politics through the Telugu Desam Party, but parted ways in 2017 due to disagreements with party officials. Subsequently, he joined the Indian National Congress, where he currently serves as one of the three working presidents of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee.
Throughout his career, Reddy faced challenges from rival parties, particularly from the TRS and the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM). He also had the daunting task of rejuvenating the Congress party's presence in Telangana, especially in the face of strong competition from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the dominant position of the TRS.
Renowned for his leadership and strong connection with the people, he is affectionately referred to as "The Lion of Telangana."
He has a strong passion for football & movies and is known to have close relationships with Rahul Gandhi and Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar.
On a personal front, he married the daughter of Congress leader Jaipal Reddy's nice, Anumula Geetha.
