Shivraj Singh Chouhan is the former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. He belongs to BJP. Before joining politics he served nation as Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) volunteer. He joined the RSS in 1972, at the age of 13. He has been a five-time Member of Parliament from Vidisha Loksabha Constituency. Currently he represents Budhni constituency, in Sehore district. He also served ABVP on various positions. He has also been a convener of Akhil Bhartiya Keshariya Vahini in the initial days of his political career. Shivraj is very much popular for his women welfare and empowerment schemes. Gaon ki Beti Yojana, Janani Suraksha evam Janani Prasav Yojana, Swagatam Laxmi Yojana, Usha Kiran Yojana, Tejaswini, One Stop Crisis Center, Lado Abhiyaan, etc. are the major schemes of his tenure as CM. In his childhood days, young Shivraj used to spend a lot of time swimming and playing in the serene waters of river Narmada and created a special bond with it. His emotional attachment with the river shows in his efforts to preserve it and her ecosystem.

Shivraj was the youngest RSS volunteer who was imprisoned during Emergency in 1975.
