  • 2014 : She won the 16th Lok Sabha elections from Jhansi In Uttar Pradesh where she defeated SP's Chandrapal Yadav by a margin of 190467 votes.
  • 2011 : She was re-inducted into BJP and was appointed to spearhead the task of fortifying BJP's presence in Uttar Pradesh.
  • 2004 : Her resignation led to her ousting from the BJP which was revoked at the insistence of RSS. However, she continued to publicly defy BJP's leadership and decided to float her own party Bharatiya Janshakti Party which failed to make a dent in the political fray.
  • 2003 : She was sworn into office as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, a position she served for a short spell. She resigned from her post after a year, when she was arrested for alleged involvement in instigating the Hubli riots of 1994.
  • 1999 : She switched constituencies in 1999 when she decided to contest the election from Bhopal where she defeated BJP's Suresh Pachori of INC by a margin of 168864 votes.
