Nitish Mishra
Nitish Mishra is an Indian politician from Bihar. He is the state vice president of the Bhartiya Janta Party. He represents the Jhanjharpur assembly constituency in Madhubani district in the 13th, 14th, and 15th Bihar Legislative Assembly.

He has been a public servant for more than 28 years, during which he has brought in tech-driven reforms, models of governance transparency, and rural development and disaster management have been his focus.

He contested the Bihar Assembly Election in November 2025 from the Jhanjharpur constituency and won, securing 1,07,958 votes.

Nitish Mishra is a Bihar politician of the present who is the Minister of Industries & Tourism and an MLA from Jhanjharpur. A political family scion (his father Jagannath Mishra was thrice Chief Minister), he is an MBA graduate from FORE School of Management (Delhi), holds a postgraduate diploma from the University of Hull, UK, and a BA (Hons) in History from Delhi University.

Nitish Mishra is continuing the esteemed family tradition from Mithila. He is upholding a significant familial heritage dedicated to the betterment of Bihar and India. His father, Late Dr. Jagannath Mishra, served as the Chief Minister of undivided Bihar on three occasions and also held the position of Union Minister.

His uncle, Pandit Lalit Narayan Mishra, a former Railway Minister, played a pivotal role as a Member of the First Parliament of Independent India and served as a Minister in the Government of India from 1964 to 1975. Tragically, he was assassinated in 1975 during a bomb explosion while inaugurating the broad-gauge railway line in Samastipur, Bihar.

His other uncle, Pandit Rajendra Mishra, contributed significantly to the freedom movement and served as a Member of the Bihar & Odisha Legislative Council from 1924 to 1927.

Subsequently, he became a Member of the Constituent Assembly in 1937.

He has served as a Minister in the government of Bihar between 2005 to 2015. During his period, he brought radical reforms in governance with innovation and transparency by using IT as a tool for public delivery with utmost sensitivity towards the people.

In​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌ the 2025 November election, Nitish Mishra repeated his victory in the Jhanjharpur assembly constituency with a total of 1,07,958 votes. He beat his opponent, Ram Narayan Yada,v by 54,849 votes. With this triumph, he cemented his position in Madhubani being a scion of a well-established political ​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌family.
