Narayan Deka was born in Mukalmua in Nalbari district of Assam and has been actively engaged in regional politics. He is affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party and has built his political career through grassroots engagement and constituency-level activities.
He rose to prominence after being elected as a Member of the Assam Legislative Assembly from the Barkhetry Assembly constituency in 2016, defeating Congress candidate Diganta Barman. His victory established him as a key political figure in the Nalbari region.
In the 2021 Assam Assembly elections, he contested again from Barkhetry but was defeated by Diganta Barman, marking a setback in his electoral journey.
