Yogi Adityanath is a right-wing populist Hindutva firebrand politician from Gorakhpur district. He is currently chief minister of Uttar Pradesh. He was born as Ajay Mohan Bisht in Pauri Garhwal district (now in Uttarakhand). He did his graduation in science. During his student life he actively participated in many social activities and movements. At the age of 22 he concede his family life and became a monk. Instead of worshiping god at one place, he opted to roam across the region and spread the awareness. He started the Janjagran Abhiyaan in Eastern Uttar Pradesh. He ate food along with the people belongs to all caste and religions, to show his anger against untouchability. He fought his first Loksabha election in 1998 and became Member of Parliament. He resigned from MP post after he was elected as chief minister of UP.

Yogi Adityanath is the Chief Editor of 'Hindi weekly' and monthly magazine `Yogvani`.
He is also the founder of the Hindu Yuva Vahini, a youth organization that has been involved in communal violence.
Incumbent CM Yogi Adityanath contested an assembly election for the first time from Gorakhpur urban constituency of Uttar Pradesh and registered victory with over 1 lakh votes.
He resigned from Loksabha and was elected as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.
He served as member of General Purposes Committee from 29 Jan. 2015 - 21 Sept. 2017.
He was again elected to 16th Lok Sabha (5th term). This time he defeated Rajmati Nishad of Samajwadi Party.
He was re-elected to 15th Lok Sabha (4th term). On 31 Aug. 2009, he became a member of Standing Committee on Transport, Tourism and Culture and Member, Consultative Committee, Ministry of Home Affairs.
Re-elected to 14th Lok Sabha ( 3rd term) from the same constitency. Also he became Member, Committee on Government Assurances, Member, Standing Committee on External Affair, Member, Consultative Committee, Ministry of Home Affair.
He was re-elected to 13th Lok Sabha (2nd term) . From 1999 to 2000, he was appointed as the Member, Standing Committee on Food, Civil Supplies and Public Distribution and Member, Consultative Committee, Ministry of Home Affairs.
From 1998 to 1999 he served as the Member of Standing Committee on Food, Civil Supplies and Public Distribution and Its Sub-Committee-B on Department of Sugar and Edible Oils Distribution. Also he was the Member, Consultative Committee, Ministry of Home Affairs.
Adityanath elected to Loksabha from Gorakhpur constituency. He defeated Jamuna Prasad Nishad of Samajwadi Party.
