Rajen Gohain is an active politician from Assam. He belongs to Bharatiya Janata Party. He represents Nowgong constituency of Assam in Loksabha. Profession wise he is the owner of a Te Estate in Assam. After completing his graduation from University of Guwahati with the degrees of BA and LLB he joined Assam Movement in early 1980s and actively participated. Later, he joined politics with BJP. He is a founder-member of Assam BJP in Nagaon district. Before elected to loksabha, he was elected as the member of Nagaon Municipal Board in early 90s. Gohain has served four terms as a Member of lower house till 20018. He is currently serving as the Minister of State in the Railway Ministry. He is also associated with Tea plantation, Rubber, Pisciculture and Dairy farming. In 16th Loksabha he raised the issue of land-erosion caused by Brahmaputra in Assam and homeless and landless people in the State. He also demanded the construction of rail-cum-road bridge on river Brahmaputra to provide rail connectivity in middle Assam.

Rajen Gohain represented Assam in school level hockey team and was also a Long-distance runner in school days. He is the ex-president of Assam Gymnastic Association and ex-vice president of Gymnastic Federation of India. Also he is the founder of Elite Club, Nagaon and Miles Bronson Residential School, Guwahati, Assam. He was the major donor for Shiv Mandir at Amolapatty, Nagaon. He spend he time in various activities to preserve different cultural activities of different tribes in Assam including their food habits, living and social activities. On ground he is active but not inside the Parliament. From May 2014 to December 2018 he raised just 23 questions. Where as the national average is 137 and state average is 71. He participated in just 8 debates.
