Hiran Chatterjee, actor and politician, was born on 19 December 1972 in Uluberia, West Bengal, and spent his childhood in the Howrah region of the same state. Hereafter, to step into the film industry, he professionally worked in managerial capacities, such as that of Reliance Industries in Mumbai.
He started his acting career in Bengali cinema with the film “Nawab Nandini” in 2007 and was soon recognised as a leading actor in regional films. He constantly took part in the successful Bengali film units and built up his fame as a hero, with many different roles.
Chatterjee switched over to politics with the BJP and won the West Bengal Legislative Assembly election from Kharagpur Sadar in 2021. He took the Trinamool Congress candidate incumbent down with a clear margin in that election and became an MLA.
In 2022, he took another step in his political career when he was elected as a councillor for Ward 33 in Kharagpur Municipality, which strengthened his involvement in local governance and civic issues at the grassroots level.
Apart from his political work, Chatterjee has also been associated with social projects, one of which was supporting visually impaired and underprivileged children through an ngo based in Kolkata. He has been sharing the demand of public service obligations with an acting legacy.
As of the year 2026, Hiran Chatterjee is still a prominent political player in West Bengal; he is an MLA and, at the same time, concentrating on constituency-level governance and public service.
