With a trail of eminent political family members strewn across her path, Mausam Benazir Noor entered politics to follow in her familial legacy and take up the political reigns following the demise of her mother Rubi Noor four-time MLA of Sujapur, West Bengal-- in 2009. An advocate by profession, she contested with an INC ticket and won from the Maldaha Uttar seat in the 15th Lok Sabha elections. She also won the 2014 elections and is now serving her second term in this constituency. However, according to reports, there is speculation she might switch to Trinamool Congress before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The conjecture started making rounds following her meeting with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Grandniece of legendary Congress leader ABA Ghani Khan Choudhury--the Railway Minister in the Third Indira Gandhi Ministry Mausam Noor might diverge from her family's long-standing alliance with the Congress and run with an AITC ticket in 2019 elections.
