In 2022, Deenanath Bhaskar of the Bharatiya Janata Party won the seat by defeating Smt Anjani of the Samajwadi Party with a margin of 1647 votes.
Aurai Assembly constituency falls under the Muzaffarpur Lok sabha constituency. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Ajay Nishad won from Muzaffarpur Lok Sabha (MP) Seat with the margin of 409988 votes by defeating Raj Bhushan Choudhary of the Vikassheel Insaan Party.
