Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) Flag

The Election Commission of India allots the Hand Pump to Rashtriya Lok Dal candidates. It served as the partys reserved symbol in Uttar Pradesh for years. In April 2023, stateparty recognition was revoked, separate from symbol allocation. The Hand Pump remains central to RLDs political identity and campaigns.

Under Paragraph 10 of the Symbols Order, ECI extended Hand Pump use in 2019. RLD candidates in Jammu and Kashmir were allotted the symbol then. Alliances have not altered this allocation unless notified by the Commission. Seatsharing arrangements decide constituencies, not the party symbol on ballots.

RLD: Symbol status and flag usage

ECI allocates symbols under the 1968 Order; it does not register flags. Therefore, no officially recognized Rashtriya Lok Dal flag exists in Commission records. Any flag used by RLD remains organizational material, not an ECIgoverned identifier. Campaign materials may display the logo beside the Hand Pump.

In 2024, ECI results recorded RLD winning two Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh. During 2023 Uttar Pradesh municipal polls, allied with Samajwadi Party, RLD sought Hand Pump allotment. Seatsharing did not change symbol allocation norms, which remain Commissiondriven. These details show how the party logo and symbol reinforce enduring political identity and recognition.
