In 2022, Virendra Chaudhary of the Indian National Congress won the seat by defeating Bajrang Bahadur Singh of the Bharatiya Janata Party with a margin of 1246 votes.
Pharenda Assembly constituency falls under the Maharajganj Lok sabha constituency. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Pankaj Choudhary won from Maharajganj Lok Sabha (MP) Seat with the margin of 340424 votes by defeating Akhilesh of the Samajwadi Party.
