The Karimnagar constituency is of the 17 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state of Telangana.

It is listed as one of the districts of Telangana to be funded under the special scheme called the Backward Regions Grant Fund Programme. There is presence of agriculture and industry such as oil mills, grain mills, animal husbandry, rice mills across the district
The seat is currently held by Vinod Kumar Boinapally of the TRS. in 2014, he had defeated Ponnam Prabhakar of the Congress.
The Congress has won this seat 10 times since 1957. However the TRS made gains since 2004 and since then has won the seat four times. According to the experts, the 2019 elections could witness the return of the TRS here. There is a wave clearly in favour of the TRS across Telangana and the recent election results for the assembly segment is proof of that.
Boinapally has an attendance of 78 per cent and has been an active parliamentarian. He has participated in 102 debates on the floor of the house and asked a whopping 536 questions in parliament.
