Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha constituency, is one of the important constituencies in the state of Karnataka. Nalin Kumar Kateel of BJP is the sitting MP of the Dakshina Kannada constituency. In 2014 General Elections he defeated Janardhana Poojary of the INC with the margin of 1,43,709 votes. In previous elections, 77 percent of people cast their votes.The constituency has total population of 20,89,649, of which, 52.33% live in rural areas and 47.67% in urban.
