In 2020, Ashok Kumar of the Janata Dal (United) won the seat by defeating Phoolbabu Singh of the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) (Liberation) with a margin of 13801 votes.
Warisnagar Assembly constituency falls under the Samastipur Lok sabha constituency. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Lok Jan Shakti Party candidate Ramchandra Paswan won from Samastipur Lok Sabha (MP) Seat with the margin of 251643 votes by defeating Dr. Ashok Kumar of the Indian National Congress.
