In 2019, Samir Ranjan Dash of the Biju Janata Dal won the seat by defeating Pravati Parida of the Bharatiya Janata Party with a margin of 32008 votes.
Nimapara Assembly constituency falls under the Jagatsinghpur Lok sabha constituency. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Biju Janata Dal candidate Rajashree Mallick won from Jagatsinghpur Lok Sabha (MP) Seat with the margin of 271655 votes by defeating Bibhu Prasad Tarai of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
