In 2019, Karikho Kri of the Independent won the seat by defeating Dr. Mohesh Chai of the Bharatiya Janata Party with a margin of 155 votes.
Tezu Assembly constituency falls under the Arunachal East Lok sabha constituency. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Tapir Gao won from Arunachal East Lok Sabha (MP) Seat with the margin of 69948 votes by defeating Lowangcha Wanglat of the Indian National Congress.
