In 2022, Khumukcham Joykisan Singh of the Janata Dal (United) won the seat by defeating Jyotin Waikhom of the Bharatiya Janata Party with a margin of 3773 votes.
Thangmeiband Assembly constituency falls under the Inner Manipur Lok sabha constituency. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Dr Rajkumar Ranjan Singh won from Inner Manipur Lok Sabha (MP) Seat with the margin of 17755 votes by defeating Oinam Nabakishore Singh of the Indian National Congress.
