In 2023, Smt. Chanda Surendra Singh Gaur of the Indian National Congress won the seat by defeating Rahul Singh Lodhi of the Bharatiya Janata Party with a margin of 8117 votes.
Khargapur Assembly constituency falls under the Tikamgarh Lok sabha constituency. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Dr Virendra Kumar won from Tikamgarh Lok Sabha (MP) Seat with the margin of 348059 votes by defeating Ahirwar Kiran of the Indian National Congress.
