Continuing its winning streak in the local body elections, the Trinamool Congress (TMC)won four more municipal corporations — Biddhanagar, Asansol, Chandernagore and Siliguri — that went to polls. In 2015, the Left Front had won the Siliguri civic body election, while the three other municipal corporations were secured by the TMC.
