West Bengal Governor List
Since Indian independence, West Bengal has had 29 Governors. The first person to be sworn as the Governor of Bengal was Chakravarthi Rajagopalachari on August 15 1947. The state has largely been ruled by the Communist Party of India until the TMC turned the tables in the year 2012. On March 5 2026, R. N. Ravi was appointed by the NDA at the Centre as the Governor of Bengal.
