Rajesh Ranjan Urf Pappu Yadav Biography

Rajesh‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ Ranjan first entered politics in Bihar through the state's electoral politics. With his entry into the Bihar Legislative Assembly in 1990, he became, for the very first time, a representative of the electorate, thereby making a political base for himself in the Purnia region.

In 1991, he took the step from local to national politics when he won the election to become a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha from Purnia. His inauguration speech at the Parliament was the first of his parliamentary tenure, and it was recorded as the start of a new career for him. Along with this, Pappu Yadav got the recognition of being a political personality at the regional level.

He again successfully contested the Lok Sabha elections from Purnia in 1996 and 1999 and thus had an extended parliamentary tenure from Purnia, where he was a member of the Lok Sabha. Throughout this time, he not only kept a stronghold on his constituency but also continued to be involved in legislative activities.

After a hiatus from Parliament, Pappu Yadav switched gears to state politics and in 2013, he was elected as an MLA and hence stayed engaged in legislative and public affairs in Bihar.

In 2024, he entered the Loksabha election once more, this time in Purnia, where he won the seat, constituting his political comeback to the Parliament after a long interval. As of 2025, Rajesh Ranjan is still a Member of Parliament. He is active in constituency work and keeps up his involvement in national legislative ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌work.
