Rohini Acharya Yadav is the daughter of Bihar’s ex-Chief Ministers Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi. She has a degree in medicine and moved abroad after her marriage. In 2024, she entered mainstream politics and debuted for the Lok Sabha seat from Saran against the RJD.

She is recognized for her noble act of donating a kidney to her father and identifies herself as the spokesperson of decency, family pride, and unpretentious political ambitions.

She quit active politics in 2025 after announcing her withdrawal from all political roles.

Rohini Acharya, the second eldest daughter of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) President, former Bihar Chief Minister and former Uninion Minister of Railways, Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi, Leader of Opposition of Bihar Legislative Council.

In 2002, while pursuing her MBBS, she married Samaresh Singh, a software engineer. Rohini is a mother of two sons and resides in Singapore with her husband and family. Her father-in-law, Rai Ranvijay Singh, is a retired Income Tax Officer and a college friend of Lalu.

She became widely known in December 2022, when she donated her kidney to her father, RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav, and received a lot of praise.

In 2024, she formally stepped into politics when she ran as a RJD candidate from Saran Lok Sabha constituency. Rohini Yadav, a member of the new generation of the Yadav family, has creatively branded herself as a responsible and committed person with her medical background and political ambitions.

In 2025, Rohini Acharya stepped away from politics, publicly declaring that she was quitting all political engagement.
