Uday Narayan Chaudhary, born on August 8, 1952, in Bihar, completed his Bachelor of Arts from Patna University, and later he went on to contest Imamnaganj constituency in Gaya district as his first electoral venture. Over time, he has been recognized as a leader at the grassroots level who has the most support of the Dalit communities, and after associating with various political formations for a while, he finally took the RJD as his political home.
Moreover, Chaudhary was the Speaker of the Bihar Legislative Assembly from 2005 to 2015, a decade when he was instrumental in the parliament's working and rules of procedure. He was involved in numerous interventions during his incumbency and became a familiar name in the political arena of Bihar. Though he was defeated several times in the recent elections, he managed to keep his status intact through the party leadership and organisational assignments.
In November 2025, Uday Narain Choudhary, ran for the Sikandra Assembly seat on a Rashtriya Janata Dal ticket but lost.
