Jaiprakash Narayan Yadav was born on August 2, 1954, in Barhat village, Jamui district, Bihar. After finishing his early schooling in his village, he moved out for higher studies. The detailed account of his college degrees may be scarce, but Yadav's schooling up to college has been the cornerstone for his career in active politics and public service. Yadav was initially associated with the RJD and was elected as an MP representing Munger from 2004 to 2009. After that, he won the Banka Lok Sabha constituency in 2014 and held the seat until 2019. The major issues that he has taken up during his career are infrastructure development, implementation of social welfare programs, and policies that promote rural growth in Bihar. Yadav, during the first UPA regime, was Minister of State for Water Resources. He worked on various water management and rural development projects.
