She got involved in the politics of the region after her matriculation. At first, she was known only for her abilities in organizational work and for her strong bond with rural women and self-help groups.

With her husband Surajbhan Singh's close political ties in Bihar, she achieved her political recognition in her own manner. From Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) to Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), she changed her political affiliation. Later, she wanted to be under a wider social-justice platform to increase her influence.

In 2025, she is an RJD candidate and is coming from the Mokama constituency. She is going to be a candidate in the election, and her campaign will revolve around the themes of women’s empowerment, employment generation, and rural development.
