Dr.‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ Smita Purvey Gupta is an Indian politician of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) party. She will be contesting the 2025 Bihar Legislative Assembly elections from the Parihar constituency, Sitamarhi district. Dr. Gupta is the daughter-in-law of the senior RJD leader Ram Chandra Purbe. Her departure from the frontline has caused a stir within the party, especially with Ritu Jaiswal, the ex-Bihar Mahila Morcha head, who is running as an independent candidate from the same constituency and has accused Dr. Gupta of sabotaging her last campaign.
