Sellaperumal Ramalingam

Sellaperumal Ramalingam was born to Sellaperumal and Angaiyarkanni in Kumbakonam on 24th April 1945. He married Yasotha in 1975 and they have two children.
He was elected to the 17th Lok Sabha from the Mayiladuthurai constituency in Tamil Nadu as a candidate from the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). He was elected four times to work for the government in Tamil Nadu. This happened in the years 1977, 1980, 1989, and 1996.
Currently, he is a member of the Committee on Papers Laid on the Table. In addition to this, he is serving as a member of the Standing Committee on Water Resources. He is also a member of the Standing Committee on Housing and Urban Affairs. He has taken the role of a Member of the Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Rural Development and the Ministry of Panchayati Raj as well.
Between 1972 and 1975, he held the position of Chairperson for the Board of Trustees at Shri Naganatha Swamy Devasthanam. Later, from 1972 to 1977, he served as the Vice-Chairperson for the Thanjavur Agriculturist Marketing Committee. Following this, he was the Vice-Chairperson for the Kumbakolam Rural Electrical Co-operative Society. From 1996 to 2011, he was the Vice-Chairperson for the Co-operative District Central Bank and held the same position twice for the Thanjavur Agriculturist Marketing Committee from 1998 to 2002. Additionally, he served as a member of the management committee for brackishwater aquaculture.
Apart from politics and social work, his interest lies in book reading, swimming and playing volleyball.
