Indian National League (INL) Flag

Indian National League election symbol is not permanently reserved with the Election Commission of India. INL is a registered, unrecognised party, so candidates receive free symbols from returning officers. The Election Symbols Order, 1968, governs such allotment. Ballots and EVMs display the allotted symbol, which defines political identity.

In the 2021 Kerala Assembly election, Ahamed Devarkovil won Kozhikode South as an INL candidate. Results and assembly records list him under INL within the Left Democratic Front. Returning officers allotted the symbol per the Election Commissions rules. Seatsharing did not change the symbol process for INL nominees.

INL: Symbol allocation and flag status

Indian National League flag is green with a crescent at the upperleft corner, per the partys constitution. Campaigns feature this flag and a party logo in publicity. However, only the allotted election symbol appears on ballots. No allotted election symbol is deemed a religious or national symbol under law.

Alliances influence campaign visibility, not ballot identity. During April 2024 LDF events, leaders publicly carried INL flags. Indian National League election symbol choices continue to follow ECI procedures for registered, unrecognised parties. Voters should rely on the EVM symbol for clarity. These practices safeguard the INL political identity across elections.
