K. In March 2026, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam officially announced K. Vignesh as its candidate from the Kinathukadavu Assembly constituency. Following the announcement, he actively participated in constituency-wide roadshows, public meetings, voter interaction programmes, and local campaign activities across Kinathukadavu and nearby areas.

On 4 May 2026, K. Vignesh won the Kinathukadavu Assembly constituency as the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam candidate by securing 99,950 votes. He won the constituency with a margin of 11,710 votes, registering an important electoral victory for TVK in the Coimbatore region during the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly election.

His victory significantly increased his political visibility within the party and established him as one of the first-time legislators elected from western Tamil Nadu under the TVK banner.
