V. Sathyabama began her career during the industrial expansion of Tiruppur and its adjoining towns. Tiruppur is a major textile and garment manufacturing hub in Tamil Nadu. As a pre-electoral community activist, she worked with Tiruppur self-help women workers and constructivist labour alliances. Issues of public concern that she addressed included the women’s lack of economic agency, the poor working conditions of textiles, the absence of wage security, and the inadequate access to government welfare schemes.
In her political career, she has been associated with the AIADMK party, with whom she first established links while working on local party structures and later took on functions in booth management, women’s wing, and coordination and district-level org activities. She has been a constituency-oriented politician and thus, not engaged in high-profile state-level politics.
It is to her credit that the AIADMK party made a case for her candidature in the Tiruppur Lok Sabha constituency for the 2024 elections to support the party's commitment to improving representation for the labour-intensive industrial zones.
In her capacity as an MP, she handled her first-ever parliamentary work, which included addressing concerns related to Labour Welfare, Social Justice, and Women's Empowerment, as well as the Textiles industry's development. Her parliamentary work is mostly affiliated with the Tiruppur region’s industrial and Labour, Women's Participation in Politics, and Development concerns.
In November 2025, following her removal from the AIADMK party, she left the party and formally joined the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam. This move marked a significant political realignment in her career. She continues to remain active in social and political initiatives under her new party affiliation.
