Ku Pa Krishnan began his political journey through the AIADMK’s organisational structure, gradually rising from cadre-level responsibilities to becoming an active electoral representative. His early political work was largely centred on strengthening party presence at the constituency level, focusing on rural outreach, local administration issues, and party mobilisation activities within the Dravidian political framework.
His breakthrough in electoral politics came when he was elected as a Member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from the Alangudi constituency in the 2011 Assembly elections. During his tenure, he was involved in addressing constituency-level governance, particularly in areas linked to rural welfare, agricultural concerns, and local infrastructure development.
In the 2016 Assembly elections, he contested again from Alangudi but was not successful in retaining the seat. Following this, he remained active in party politics and organisational roles, continuing his engagement in Dravidian political circles and constituency-based political activities.
Ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Ku Pa Krishnan aligned with Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), joining its expanding organisational structure. His induction was part of the party’s strategy to bring experienced political figures into its fold for its first major state electoral contest.
In the 2026 elections, he contested from Lalgudi constituency as a TVK candidate and lost to Leema Rose, securing 58056 votes with a margin of -2739, marking a closely contested electoral defeat.
