S. Keerthana

S. Keerthana is a young Tamil Nadu politician who emerged as one of the new-generation faces of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam during the 2026 Assembly election. Her rise gained attention because TVK fielded several fresh candidates against experienced political veterans, positioning them as symbols of change in state politics. Keerthana became one of the notable examples of that strategy after her breakthrough performance in southern Tamil Nadu.

Before entering the Assembly, she was associated with local outreach programmes, constituency mobilisation, and organisational activities linked to TVK’s district expansion. Her political profile reflected the party’s attempt to promote younger leaders, women representatives, and grassroots workers instead of depending entirely on veteran defectors from older parties.

In the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly election, Keerthana contested from Virudhunagar. She won with 68,709 votes and defeated former minister K. T. Rajendra Balaji of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam by a margin of 11,670 votes. The result was considered one of the key upsets of the election because Rajendra Balaji had been a senior and recognisable regional figure.

Her victory strengthened TVK’s presence in the southern districts and highlighted growing voter support for younger candidates. It was also viewed as a significant win for women’s representation within the party’s first electoral wave.

As of 2026, Keerthana is regarded as one of TVK’s promising women legislators and a rising political face from southern Tamil Nadu, with expectations of a larger future role in the party and state politics.

In the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly election, she contested from Sivakasi as the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam candidate and secured 68,709 votes. She defeated her nearest rival by 11,670 votes, delivering a clear result and entering the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly.
