On 4 May 2026, Vijay Tamilan Parthiban won the Salem South Assembly constituency as the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam candidate by securing 91,371 votes. He defeated DMK candidate M. Loganathan by a margin of 33,369 votes, registering one of TVK’s major victories in western Tamil Nadu during the 2026 Assembly election. His victory significantly increased his political visibility within the party and established him as one of the newly elected legislators from the Salem region.
