Shakeel Ahmad Khan
Shakeel​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌ Ahmad Khan (born 1 January 1965) is a veteran leader of the Indian National Congress from Bihar and is currently the leader of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) in the Bihar Assembly. He was a student leader in JNU and has been an MLA from the Kadwa constituency in Katihar for several terms. He has both the academic credentials and the practical experience from the ground. Being very popular in the Seemanchal region, he is one of the most important Muslim faces of the Congress party.

He contested the Bihar Assembly Election in November 2025 from the Kadwa constituency as the Congress candidate but did not win.

Shakeel​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌ Ahmad Khan was born on the 1st of January, 1965, in the village of Kabar Kothi in the Katihar district of Bihar. After completing his early education in the village, he advanced his studies to Patna University and later to JNU, New Delhi, where he earned higher degrees (M.A., M.Phil., Ph.D.). His graduation was marked by significant student-political activism, particularly in his leadership role as President of the JNU Students’ Union, which later served as his entry point into politics.

After the days of his leadership in the students' union, he got a membership in the Indian National Congress in 1999, and later he succeeded in his first assembly election in 2015 from the Kadwa constituency of Katihar district. He has been promoted to important legislative positions such as the head of the Bihar Minority Welfare Committee and has been entrusted with the office of the CLP leader for the Congress, besides carrying other responsibilities.

Shakeel Ahmad Khan is in the thick of things, as of 2025, when he is actively busied with rally­ing and election­eering for the Bihar Assembly elec­tions. His party, the Congress, is trying to make a comeback in the Seemanchal region. The fair mixture of his educational qualifications, local support, and position in the party makes him a major player in the state’s electoral contest that is about to take ​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌place.

In November 2025, Shakeel Ahmad Khan, a senior Congress leader, ran for the Kadwa seat but was defeated by his rival, ending his attempt to retain the constituency.
