Biography
M. M. Hassan was born in 1947 and became a leader of the Indian National Congress and a former Minister in the Government of Kerala. 2017 March 25 he became president of Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee. Hassan was introduced to active politics through the Kerala Students Union (KSU) and became the state president of KSU. He was then elected as the Senate member and Chairman of the Kerala University Union.
He also held the additional portfolio of Minister for Non-Resident Keralites' Affairs in the Kerala Legislative Assembly. Hassan is currently serving as president of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC).

After a long break, he contested from Chadayamangalam constituency, but defeated by CPI candidate Retnakaran.

He moved to Kayamkulam assembly seat and successfully contested. He defeated G Sudhakaran of CPM. He became Minister for Information and Parliamentary Affairs in the Ministry headed by A. K. Antony from 2001–2004. Also, he had an additional portfolio of Minister for Non-Resident Keralites' Affairs.

MM Hassan lost his Trivandrum West seat against Antony Raju in Assembly Polls.
1991
He again won from Trivandrum West in Kerala Assembly Elections. He defeated Antony Raju of KEC.
1987
He successfully contested from Trivandrum West and re-elected to Kerala Assembly.
1982
M. M. Hassan was elected to the Kerala Legislative Assembly from the Kazhakuttam constituency. He defeated Lakshmanen Vaidyan.
