Rao, is an Industrialist, Politician, and a member of the 11th, 12th, 14th, 15th and 16th Lok Sabha. He was one of the youngest member elected to Rajya Sabha, at the age of 39. He represents the Narasaraopet Parliamentary constituency of Andhra Pradesh and is a member of the Telugu Desam Party. He has served as Sarpanch and President Panchayat Samithi, Tadikonda and is known to be elected as youngest member of India upper house and later elected to Loksabha-lower house 5 terms.
