Manohar Joshi Biography

Manohar Joshi was born to Gajanan Krishna Joshi and Saraswati Gajanan in Nandavi on 2nd December 1937. He last breathed on 23rd February 2024 after suffering from a cardiac arrest. He was suffering from a suffering a brain haemorrhage and was receiving treatment at PD Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai.

He married Veena Gupta in 1971 and was blessed with three children with her. His net worth is Rs 3,94,36,604 and his liabilities are Rs 11,32,879.

Manohar Joshi was the Shiv Sena stalwart. He was the President of the Indian Parliamentary Group. Additionally, he was the head of the National Group of Inter-Parliamentary Union.

As Chairperson of the Business Advisory Committee, Rules Committee, and General Purpose Committee, he works diligently to ensure the smooth functioning of legislative proceedings and uphold parliamentary standards. Furthermore, he led the Standing Committee on the Conference of Presiding Officers of Legislative Bodies in India and the Conference of Presiding Officers of Legislative Bodies in India.

He was a dedicated individual known for his close association with numerous educational and social organisations. During his tenure as Mayor of Mumbai, he envisioned the idea of 'Clean Mumbai-Green Mumbai', emphasising environmental sustainability. Additionally, he initiated Reading Room facilities to support underprivileged students in their academic endeavours.

His passion for cricket is evident through his roles as the former President of the Mumbai Cricket Association and the former Vice-President of the Cricket Control Board of India.
