Mamtaz Sanghamita

Mamtaz Sanghamita is the daughter of the late Syed Abul Mansur Habibullah, a former Speaker of the West Bengal assembly and a former Law Minister, and Maqsooda Khatoon, an educationist.

• Mamtaz Sanghamitra was elected to the 16th Lok Sabha after defeating Sk. Saidul Haque of CPM from Bardhaman-Durgapur constituency.

• She passed MBBS from Calcutta Medical College.

She was a Medical Officer in West Bengal Govt. Health Service from 1973-1979. She was a basic teacher, Registrar (W.B.H.S.) from 1980-1989. She was a Medical Teacher Lecturer from 1989-1992. WBMES, Medical Teacher Assistant Professor from 1992-1994. DO Medical Teacher Associate Professor from 1995-1997. DO Medical Teacher Professor from 1997-2000. DO Medical Professor and Head of the Department from 2000-2006 and Senior Consultant RCH from 2006-2008. She is the founder member of Mansur Habibullah Memorial School, Kudghat (Kolkata), South End School, Nalhati Birbhum (W.B.), Asleha Girls College, Rampurhat Birbhum (W.B.), Sofia Girls College, Nalhati Birbhum (W.B.) and Surangana School for Arts, Dance, and Music, Kudghat (Kolkata). She is a former Examiner of UPSC Medical Service. She was the Vice President of ‘ISOPARB’ (Indian Society of Perinatology and Reproductive Biology. She was a Executive Member of Indian Medical Association, Calcutta Branch and Calcutta Medical Club. She is the Ex President, Bengal Obstetrics and Gynaecological Society and Medical College Ex-Student`s Association and Ex-Member of Senate University of Calcutta. She was also on medical deputation to Saudi Arabia during Haj.
