Kunal Ghosh

Alumni of Taki House Boy's School, Sealdah, and Annex Business School, Kunal Ghosh is an Indian politician from All India Trinamool Congress and a former Rajya Sabha MP who represents West Bengal in the upper House of the Indian Parliament. Although he has had a bitter relationship with the party for a brief period, he got back to the fold, and presently he is one of the spokespersons of TMC.

A well-known journalist, Mr. Ghosh was the CEO of Channel 10 and the editor of Bengali dailies Sangbad Pratidin and Sakalbela and head of the Media unit of Saradha Group. Kunal Ghosh is also an established author and penned down some masterpieces like Bandir Dairy, Poth Harabo Bolei, Saashtir Pore, RANISAHEBA, BAGHBIDHOBA, Kara O Kahini, Fire Aschi Birotir Por. Kunal Ghosh is an Indian journalist turned politician associated with the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC). As a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha, he worked from 2012 to 2018 and was also in charge of the party as a spokesperson and a state general secretary. Apart from being a successful journalist, Ghosh also gained prominence as a media strategist and spokesperson of the TMC.

But his political journey was not smooth as he was caught up in the Saradha Group financial scandal. In 2013, he was arrested and was in judicial custody for more than three years, and then was released in 2016. After his release, Ghosh went back to active politics and also rejoined TMC in 2020. Until 2024, he was serving as a member of the leadership and communication team, but then there were some internal party disputes which resulted in his removal as the spokesperson and state general secretary.

Ghosh is still a powerful subject in West Bengal politics. People appreciate him for his media expertise, political resilience, and continuous public presence in spite of scandals.
