Kalyan Banerjee

Pursued B. Com degree from University of Burdwan in 1972-75, thereafter, obtained a LLB degree from University of Ranchi in 1976-79.

He has Contributed towards the development of community and society through a plethora of legal initiatives, such as (i) Rizwanur Rahman Case; (ii) Nandigram Matter; (iii) Kolkata Book Fair Matter; (iv) Chhota Angaria Case; (v) Bhikari Paswan Case; (vi) Imposition of Sec-144 in Singur; and (vii) different land acquisition cases; made endeavours for various developmental works in Asansol during his tenure as MLA; the ambit of development extended to the upliftment of schools, spreading electricity, providing water supply, etc. and needful development work in minority-dominated areas with regard to schools and burial grounds and involved in social activities in Serampore.

He Visited the following countries as a Member of the Indian Parliamentary Delegation :- U.S.A. (Representative of Parliamentary Delegation to United Nations General Assembly, Oct. 2009) and Participated as Sole Representative from CPA India Union (Parliament of India) at the CPA Global Seminar on the "Role of Parliaments and Extractive Industries" held in Vienna, Austria from 28 - 31 October 2013. Advocate, Kolkata High Court since 1981; designated senior advocate, Kolkata High Court, 2004; and senior advocate of Group 1 of Central Government from 1998-2004. Practising also at Supreme Court of India.
